History Project Homework - Tudor Era

Hey guys,

For my History homework, I have been told to do a Project on The Tudor Era and I am going to do Henry VIII's reformation (Breaking with Rome). There was a lot of though into my project to do and this isn't the homework as the homework is to do the short film on it. This week, I am doing the plan for it so I don't screw up as I'm a terrible at explaining. So, I hope you enjoy my research to the Historians reading this. There probably won't be a lot but we have 100 views on the website.

To historians, Henry remains one of the most important monarchs to have ruled the English and Welsh. He lasted almost four decades, during which he presided over the foundation of the Church of England, a remodelling of the machinery of government and of taxation, a major growth in the importance of Parliament, the incorporation of Wales into the regular system of English local administration, the establishment of the Kingdom of Ireland, the arrival in England of Renaissance modes of art and literature, and a major building programme which included colleges, palaces and fortresses. In public memory, also, he is remembered as a colossal figure. He has probably been portrayed in the cinema more often than any other English king. The fact that a Cockney could provide a recognisable representation of him gives away part of his enduring appeal; in national memory, Henry was one of the lads, the only English king to have his achievements celebrated in a long-popular music hall song.

This is just how he would have wanted things, and that yearning for renown may well be attributed to his formative experiences. He was the second son of Henry VII, and throughout his childhood was overshadowed by his older brother Arthur. He stayed with his mother, Elizabeth of York, living a sheltered existence of strong maternal love, while Arthur was paraded before the kingdom as its heir. Suddenly both Arthur and Elizabeth died in quick succession, leaving the old king half-crazed with grief and Henry deprived of affection. Father and son never got over their instinctual association of one another with trauma and disappointment. Henry's opinion of his sire was shown clearly when he succeeded to the throne and promptly reversed most of his father's policies and executed his most trusted servants. His early sense of inadequacy left him with huge ambitions and a constant desire to prove himself and to excel as a monarch.

This took me a lot of research so I hope you enjoyed reading. I also hope this plan homework gets good marks too. Before this ends, there is a short clip I put together as well as the research. I hope you enjoy.

NOTE: Unfortunately the video isn't working as I recorded it on my phone and it records over 100MB and Blogger requires less than 100MB. I'm so sorry for this but I will hope to show my teacher on my phone at the end of the lesson if possible..

British Reformation

Hey guys,

NOTE: TEACHERS PLEASE DONT READ AKA MR PALMER!!!
To all the History fans out there, I am sorry for no posts for the past few months. It's been a stressful few months full of tests however fun but I will get more into History blogging... I have a new teacher that has me to do an assignment/homework for the British Reformation. Hope you enjoy.

The English Reformation was around the 16th Century (1700 or Henry VIII's Period).
The Church of England broke away from the authority of the Pope and the Catholic Church.
Henry was married to Catherine of Aragon at the time and was Catholic. The Pope wouldn't allow Henry VIII to divorce Catherine as she reunited the Spanish and the English. She was married to Arthur, Henry's brother, and died before he could take over the throne. Henry wanted a heir boy and married Catherine but never got one. He met another young woman whilst still married to Catherine and wanted to marry her. The only way to DIVORCE IS TO BREAK WITH ROME!!

Based on Henry VIII's desire for an annulment of his marriage. the English Reformation was at the outset more of a political affair than a theological dispute. The reality of political differences between Rome and England allowed growing theological disputes to come to the fore. Until the break with Rome, it was the Pope and general councils of the Church that decided. Church law was governed by the code of canon law with final jurisdiction in Rome. Church taxes were paid straight to Rome, and the Pope had the final word in the appointment of bishops.

The break with Rome was effected by a lot of acts of Parliament passed between 1532 and 1534. In 1534, the Act of Supremacy which declared that Henry was the Supreme Head on earth of the Church of England. Final authority in doctrinal and legal disputes now rested with the monarch, and the papacy was deprived of revenue and the final say on the appointment of bishops.

I also present a video and some images of the British Reformation which will help you understand it more...

I hope you enjoyed

The Crusades H/W Essay!

Who were the Crusades?

The Crusades were people who fought for religion. The Christian's from Western Europe went to fight against the Muslim in the Holy Land called jihad. After the First Crusade achieved its goal with the capture of Jerusalem in 1099, the invading Christians set up several Christian states. The first of the Crusades began in 1095. There was a lot of Crusade battles to win Jerusalem back. It started from 1095-1270 and it is one of the biggest battles of HISTORY for a Christian believer.

This source shows us about the two religions fighting for Jerusalem. There were many reasons why they fought against each other for a holy land like Jerusalem. Prophet Muhammed (SAW) soul was raised up to heaven in Jerusalem after he sat on the Dome of the Rock and prayed which gives Islam the claim for the land. However, Christians claim the land because Jesus (Son of God) lived there for his entire life. He performed Miracles in the Holy land and many other things. He was also Crucified on Calvary Hills. There is no important place than Jerusalem to a true Christian and is also known to them as the City of God!

The Christians fought to get Jerusalem back while the Muslims fought to keep Jerusalem. These wars were to last nearly 200 years.

  • First Crusade - 1095-1099
  • Second Crusade - 1147-1149
  • Third Crusade - 1187 - 1193
  • Fourth Crusade - 1202 - 1204
  • Sixth Crusade - 1228-1229
  • Seventh Crusade - 1248-1254
  • Eighth Crusade - 1270-1272
The Crusades were mainly Christianity VS Islam but Jews also got involved. The Crusades also had many locations to fight in to get back Jerusalem. I think to myself would Jesus or Muhammed want this if they were both in Jerusalem? I don't think so but that is the past so it has been done.

Black Death Rap HomeWork!

Hello Fellow Historians,
I have put on a little song for my H/W for my Teacher. I hope you enjoy this, I know you will and hope in the nearer future my partner will post his too. :)

"Ask me what I feel like when the Black Death came man. I feel like a dead guy but only not dead man. I could do anything I want if I survive this thing, I have to make every second worth all of it. 2/3 of the population died to a disease man, I can't believe BUBOES was behind it all in just minutes, WHAT!!!

Started in China, don't know how. First to use the missile, and most the bodies smelt like cows. The Black death jumped to Sicily, and it started in Europe. Sicily was dead man. All the clans in Sicily dropped dead, dead, dead, dead.

Hello everyone.
I am a History student at a very amazing school. For the people wondering, I will not reveal any detail as this is a task for my school and if you would like to read what I have planned for the future posts, I am grateful and hope you enjoy this blog for young children especially for KS3. As mentioned, I will not reveal any personal details about myself such as;
Name
School
Where I live
I would also appreciate if you go to my school to not go to my Google + Page. This might sound a bit harsh but that is my Gaming Channel and I would not like anyone to visit for personal reasons. If you go to my school, I hope you have listened CAREFULLY as I am completely serious. If you comment with any personal info, I will remove the comment and might block you from the channel if that's what I have to go through. I would also like to inform you that I am not bothered to make another Google + Page so that is why I am using my main one for Gaming.
Anyway, I am getting off topic as usual so I would just like to say, enjoy the Historical posts coming up with me and my partner soon. Please do comment if you feel like you might have a slight doubt you will enjoy with the response HISTORY!!!
